Weed Removal Service in West Bloomfield Michigan And Surrounding Cities

For over 20 years I have been providing people with a weed removal service in West Bloomfield Michigan and the surrounding areas in Oakland county. Call me at 248-633-4509. Some other cities I offer the weeding service in are Farmington Hills, Franklin, Bloomfield Hills, Beverly Hills, Southfield, Oak Park, Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Novi, Commerce, Walled Lake, Etc. The name of my landscaping company is Weeds To Go Flowers To Grow. I have done landscaping jobs that involve weeding, planting flowers, spreading mulch, edging, trimming bushes, rock removal, and Spring, Summer, and Fall clean ups. I charge $80 an hour.

When providing my weed pulling service I have learned that it is important to pull the weeds by the roots so the weeds take a longer time to grow back. I wear gloves and I mostly pull the weeds by hand and I use my weed hammer and shovel to dig out the weeds that are harder to pull and for bigger weeds.

There are safety measures I have in place to protect myself from harmful things such as poison ivy, UV rays from too much sun, mosquitoes, etc. I always wear long pants and long sleeves, I wear a hat and I put on suntan lotion to protect myself. I wear gloves to protect my hands.

It is important to remove weeds from the garden and flower beds not only because the weeds make it look bad but because the weeds can overwhelm and kill other plants and flowers. A weed is basically an unwanted plant that grows anywhere you don’t want it to. I recommend pulling the weeds by hand or using tools like a weed hammer or the japanese hand weeder which can be bought on Amazon. I don’t recommend using a lot of chemicals because that can kill other plants. More good tools to use when pulling weeds include a Hori Hori Knife, A cap cod weeder, a dandelion puller, a sidewalk weeder, a traditional dutch hoe, and a oscillating hoe. If you are going to use chemicals to get rid of the weeds, use round up or preen. While using these chemicals get a folded box or poster and block the plants that are next to the weeds so the chemicals don’t get on the plants. Aside from using chemicals, physically removing the weeds on an ongoing basis is the best way to remove weeds.

To prevent weeds from coming back it is a good idea to provide a 2 to 3 inch layer of natural mulch to the garden beds. The reason why the 3 inch layer of mulch prevents weeds from growing is because the seeds of the weeds need to germinate in the soil and with a 3 inch layer of mulch, the mulch will be thick enough so the seeds that are blowing around in the air can’t land on the soil layer so it blocks the germination of the weed seeds so the weeds can’t be planted and grow. It is important to remulch the flower beds every 3 months because the mulch will decompose and the weed seeds will take root and grow in decomposed mulch. Avoid using rubber mulch, dyed mulch. Use a natural mulch to stop the weeds from coming back.

Another good way to prevent weeds from coming back is to use a weed barrier. Spreading mulch in the flower beds can fail when the weeds have already taken root before the mulch has been put down. Applying the weed barrier fabric below the mulch will stop the weeds from coming back because the weeds will lack the sunlight and energy to be able to grow.

Another good way to pull weeds and do it fast is to water the soil with a hose to make the soil soft and this makes the weeds easy to pull. Then use an augering drill to drill into the roots of the weeds and then pull the weeds out. Grass is probably one of the hardest weeds to pull out so this method works well with removing grass. After all the weeds are pulled its good to rake the soil for a couple days to prevent any weed seeds from germinating and doing this will also make the soil look better.

During the early spring get weeds pulled while the weeds are small. Flip the weeds with a hoe and take it out by hand and rake the weeds out of the beds. Also it’s good to water just the area where the plants are and not water the weeds. This way the weeds will be getting less water and won’t grow as fast.

A way to dig out the weeds within the sidewalks, driveways, and patios is to use a flat head screw driver to dig it out. Then use a garden hose and spray the cracks and get out the soil so the weeds can’t grow. After this sprinkle preen into the cracks which will prevent the weeds from coming back.

One way to pull weeds and then turn those weeds into mulch is to pull the weeds out of the ground and then let it decompose into the soil which takes 3 years. This will add nutrients to the soil and make use of the weeds. I only recommend doing this if the property is in an area where the weeds on the ground won’t make the presentation of the property look bad.

Removing weeds from a pond is doable. To do this I recommend taking a light anchor or similar tool that the weeds will get caught on. Attach a rope onto this tool and then throw it into the water where the weeds are and pull it back when weeds get caught onto it. Keep doing this over and over again until all the weeds are out of the pond.

To remove weeds from rocks, put on a pair of gloves and then move the rocks where the weeds are and pull the weeds out by the roots and then move the rocks back. Doing this is tedious, I know but this will make the rock bed look good and prevent the weeds from coming back for a while.

After pulling the weeds there are a couple ways of using or not using it. To use the weeds put it in a compost pile. Make sure the weeds are in a heated compost pile that is at least 140 degrees fahrenheit. Put the weeds there for 2 weeks. This will stop any eggs from animal or insects and diseases from surviving. Use a lawn mower or machete to chop up the pulled weeds. After this put all the chopped up weeds into a black garbage bag. Tie the bag up and put it in the sun. Then wait 2 to 3 years for the pile to decompose. To throw the weeds away simply put it in a paper bag that can be bought at Home Depot and place the bags at the curb for the city to take.

Thistle is one of the weeds I often come across when I do weed removal for my customers. To remove thistle I either use a shovel or I pull it with my hands and I make sure I pull it by the roots. I have to be careful because of the sharp thorns on the leaves.

Another common weed I come across is morning glory. Morning glory is a very invasive weed. What it does is it grows onto bushes and other plants and it wraps around the plants and chokes it because the other plants don’t get sunlight when this happens. This weed must be removed. One way to remove morning glory and make sure it doesn’t come back easily is to pull it early in the season immediately when it comes up. Do not let it flower because when it flowers it produces seeds and it will spread a lot.

The only clover I don’t want to pull is the one with 4 leaves. To remove 3 leaf clovers from the yard I recommend pulling the weed by hand and be sure to pull the weed by the roots. To remove clover from the grass, carefully spray vinegar on the clover and be sure the vinegar is concentrated mostly on the clover. The acid from the vinegar will kill the clover. Avoid doing this on a rainy day because the rain will wash away the vinegar and it wont work. There should be no rain for 24 hours for this method to work. Another way to remove the clover is to cover the clover patch with a garbage bag. This will prevent it from getting sunlight and oxygen and will kill the clover.

My least favorite of all weeds is poison ivy. I don’t pull poison ivy. I just do my best to avoid it. To remove poison ivy I recommend calling Poison Ivy Control Of Michigan and having them remove it. They know how to remove poison ivy without getting it. I don’t. I have had poison ivy several times and it is Not fun. My skin constantly itched me. Don’t try to remove poison ivy have the Poison Ivy Control company do it.

I hope my weed removal tips were helpful. To get my weed removal service just give me a call and I will come out and pull the weeds.
